Gender equality strategy serves stability and growth in Uzbekistan

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 13:16:31 GMT

At the current stage of reforms in Uzbekistan, reforms to protect the rights and legitimate interests of women, provide social support to women in need, and ensure gender equality continues to occur systematically. The strategy for achieving gender equality in Uzbekistan until 2030 was adopted in order to take these things to a qualitatively new level - writes Malika KadirkhanovaThe marriage age for men and women was set at 18, and the list of jobs with unfavourable working conditions, in which women's labour is prohibited in whole or partially, was abolished. The position of inspector for working with women was introduced in the internal affairs system. In accordance with the Decree of the President dd. March 7, 2022 "On measures to further accelerate the work on systematic support of family and women", the national program for increasing the activity of women in all sectors of the country's economy, as well as political and social life in 2022-2026 was approved. Russia's Hidden Threats

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 13:16:31 GMT

During these last days of March, the Kremlin has intensified support for its pro-Russian elements in many European cities. Through these actions, under the guise of rallies and protests, Russia is infiltrating militants and extremists into the European space, trying to undermine and destabilise the situation. The almost simultaneous appearance of supporters of Putin's policy on the streets of European cities is as surprising as the number of these supporters. Apparently, this is the number the Kremlin is able to pay for in the context of a full-scale war with Ukraine and under pressure from sanctions. The organised pro-Russian rallies in Spain, the Czech Republic, Moldova, and manifestations of support for Moscow's policy in Switzerland and Poland, according to Putin, should show that Russia has its supporters in many European cities. But, this synchronised manifestation of pro-Russian protests only confirms the Kremlin's long-standing strategy of illegally funding radi...

Powerwolf Seek Piece of Mind

Iron MaidenPiece of Mind (EMI)Powerwolf Seek Piece of Mind: Falk Maria Schlegel, who plays organ with metal titans Powerwolf, told us about his love for an Iron Maiden classic.(EMI)Falk Maria Schlegel: Sometime in the early ’90s I was walking through my hometown here in Germany and saw an amazing Iron Maiden concert poster (I also attended at that show, of course). The artwork fascinated me with Eddie and the band logo: That was really the starting point to get in touch with heavy metal and somehow I was so impressed that I went straight to the next record store to buy an Iron Maiden album, which I did. The album Piece of Mind was presented as a vinyl in the shop window. There had been other Iron Maiden albums out by then, but this album (which was also my first Iron Maiden album) remains my absolute favorite to this day. For me, Piece of Mind combines everything that makes heavy metal what it is and at the same time exerts an incredible fascination on me to this day. This cer...

TasteFood: Bake up a batch of these easy, zesty lemon bars

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 13:16:31 GMT

It’s easy to be greedy with citrus when summer fruits are a mere warm weather promise. Early spring is high season for lemons, and these bars will bring a warming ray of sunshine to your plate. The key to a good lemon bar, in my book, is that the filling must be intensely lemony. It should pack a wallop of puckery tartness balanced by just enough sweetness without being cloying. For this task, rely on the Eureka lemon, the ubiquitous lemon readily found in our markets. They have the requisite tartness for these bars, which their sunny cousin, the Meyer lemon, lacks. No knocks to Meyers — they are delicious in their own right. However, they’re likened to a cross between a lemon and a tangerine and are noted for their sweetness and lack of tartness. The infallible Eureka lemon will deliver the zingy, cheek-sucking filling you want for these bars. A thick curd, rippling with lemon zest, is spread over a simple, supportive shortbread crust. A smidge of sea salt is a fina...
