GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — David Montgomery rushed for 121 yards and three touchdowns, and the Detroit Lions asserted themselves as the team to beat in the NFC North, dominating the first half and beating the Green Bay Packers 34-20 on Thursday night.Montgomery carried the ball 32 times after he sat out the Lions’ victory over Atlanta last Sunday with a thigh bruise. He became the first Lion to rush for three touchdowns at Green Bay and the first Detroit player to top 100 yards rushing with three TDs since James Stewart in 2000.The Lions (3-1) beat the Packers (2-2) for a fourth straight time, a streak that also includes the final game of last season, when Detroit denied Green Bay a playoff spot in Aaron Rodgers’ last game with the Packers.Rodgers’ replacement, Jordan Love, threw for a touchdown and ran for another as he tried to rally the Packers in the second half. When it comes to horror in the 21st century, few series are as iconic as Saw. The voice of the Jigsaw Killer explaining the rules of deadly games, Billy the puppet rolling in on his tricycle, the grungy settings stained with rusted blood. UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The U.N. refugee agency said Thursday that some 186,000 migrants and refugees arrived in southern Europe so far this year, the vast majority in Italy.Between January and Sept. 24, over 2,500 people seeking to cross the Mediterranean were found dead or are still missing, a significant increase from the 1,680 people who died or were missing during the same period in 2022, Ruven Menikdiwela, director of the New York office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, told the U.N. Security Council. A young person has been arrested in connection to a fatal stabbing in the north end of the city last weekend. Police say 23-year-old Joyous Magdirila of Toronto was found suffering from stab wounds in the southbound curb lane on Yonge Street and Hendon Avenue, north of Finch subway station, just before 10 p.m. on Sunday night. Magdirila was taken to a trauma centre, where he was later pronounced dead. Police said Thursday they have charged a youth with second degree murder. CHICAGO — A Chicago man is suing those he blames for sending him to prison for a crime he didn't commit, including the city of Chicago, the Cook County and 12 police officers.Lee Harris was convicted of murder and spent 33 years behind bars. In March, a judge vacated his conviction. Prosecutors said there was not enough evidence to re-try the case. ST. LOUIS - A homicide investigation is underway after a woman was fatally shot Thursday evening in south St. Louis.The shooting happened around 9 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of South Grand Boulevard and Gravois Avenue. Police have set up a perimeter near a White Castle amid the investigation. St. Louis had only 2 officers for an entire district – Both called in sick Details are limited at this time, but police say the victim was shot in the head and died from her injuries. It's unclear what led up to the shooting, and police have not yet made any arrests. Homicide detectives with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department are investigating.
