(CNN) — Rep. Jim Jordan&#’;s speaker bid is in peril as the Ohio Republican confronts steep opposition from members of his own party, raising serious questions over whether he can flip enough holdouts to win the gavel. The House is slated to hold a second speaker vote Wednesday in what could be a pivotal moment for Jordan&#’;s candidacy. Patrick McHenry of North Carolina. Republicans are discussing the possibility of bringing forward a resolution to empower McHenry as soon as Wednesday afternoon, two sources told CNN. Jordan dug in Wednesday morning, saying he is going to stay in the race and rejected the idea of ...

TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — President Joe Biden swept into wartime Israel for an 7 1/2–hour visit Wednesday that produced a heaping dose of support for the Israeli people, a deal to get limited humanitarian aid into Gaza from Egypt and a warning not to allow rage over the deadly Hamas attack to consume them. “I understand.
